The future design of transport is currently attracting a great deal of public attention. With “Fridays for Future”, students worldwide are pushing for an implementation of the UN Climate Agreement of Paris. The national platform “Future of Mobility”, organized by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV), as well as a draft law on climate protection from the Federal Ministry for the Environment and the Climate Cabinet of the Federal Government are working on new framework conditions.
Public transport already offers mobility with lower emissions than individual motorized transport. An expansion with modal shift effects would have an immediate positive impact. In addition, greater electrification of rail and bus transport is more energy efficient and minimizes the use of fossil fuels.
